Frank Dupree, Gewinner des International Classical Music Award und des Opus Klassik, ist einer der vielseitigsten Pianisten und Dirigenten der jungen Generation. Duprees Saison 2025/26 umfasst Debüts mit BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra und Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Er wird unter anderem wieder mit dem Philharmonia Orchestra, der NDR Radiophilharmonie, den Dortmunder Philharmonikern und der Bodenseephilharmonie Konstanz zusammenarbeiten. Dupree kehrt für Kammermusikprojekte zu den Festivals in Verbier und Luzern zurück und tritt mit dem Frank Dupree Trio beim Music in PyeongChang Festival in Südkorea sowie mit der Perkussionistin Vivi Vassileva im Münchner Prinzregententheater auf. Frank Dupree ist seit 2023 künstlerischer Partner des Württembergischen Kammerorchesters Heilbronn und leitet dort jede Saison mehrere Projekte als Dirigent und Solist.

Er trat beim Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, Heidelberger Frühling, Kurt Weill Fest, Kissinger Sommer, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, sowie in renommierten Konzertsälen wie dem New Yorker Lincoln Center, Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Essen, Konzerthaus Dortmund sowie dem Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
Frank Dupree ist ein passionierter Kammermusiker, der mühelos Genregrenzen überschreitet – ein Ruf, der auch dem Frank Dupree Trio vorauseilt, in dem Dupree gemeinsam mit Jakob Krupp (Bass) und Obi Jenne (Drums) das spannungsgeladene Verhältnis zwischen Jazz und Klassik auslotet. Frank Duprees aktuelle CD-Produktionen konzentrieren sich vorwiegend auf die Werke des in der Ukraine geborenen Komponisten Nikolai Kapustin. Im November 2024 veröffentlichte Capriccio Kapustins Klavierkonzerte Nr. 2 und Nr. 6 mit dem SWR Sinfonieorchester und der SWR Big Band. Kapustins Interpretationen der Klavierkonzerte Nr. 4 und Nr. 5 brachten ihm sowohl den International Classical Music Award als auch den Diapason d’Or ein. Das Gramophone Magazine würdigte Duprees „extravagante Brillanz”, der WDR lobte seine Interpretation des Klavierkonzerts Nr. 5 als „fantastisch” und bemerkte, dass die Darbietung „die Kraft und pure Freude […] dieser Musik” perfekt einfange. Duprees großes Interesse an zeitgenössischer Musik spiegelt sich in seinen Weltpremieren wider, sowohl auf Tonträgern als auch auf der Bühne, sowie in seiner engen Zusammenarbeit mit Komponisten wie Wolfgang Rihm, HK Gruber, Péter Eötvös, Christian Jost und Daníel Bjarnason.
Der 1991 in Rastatt (Deutschland) geborene Musiker nahm bereits im frühen Kindesalter Unterricht in den Fächern Klavier und Schlagzeug. Später studierte er Klavier bei Sontraud Speidel und Dirigieren bei Péter Eötvös und Hans Zender an der Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. 2012 wurde er für seine Beethoven-Interpretation als Pianist und Dirigent mit dem 1. Preis beim Internationalen Hans-von-Bülow-Wettbewerb in Meiningen ausgezeichnet. 2014 wurde Frank Dupree einziger Preisträger des Deutschen Musikwettbewerbs sowie Stipendiat der Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben und der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Born in 1991 in Rastatt, Germany, Dupree began taking piano and percussion lessons at an early age. He later studied piano under Professor Sontraud Speidel and conducting with Professors Péter Eötvös and Hans Zender at the University of Music Karlsruhe. In 2012, he was awarded first prize at the International Hans von Bülow Competition in Meiningen for his dual-role performance as pianist and conductor interpreting Beethoven. In 2014, Dupree was the sole prizewinner at Deutscher Musikwettbewerb and received scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.
